Irene is senior research scientist at the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) of the University of Bern. Before joining the CDE, she worked for more than ten years in the Trade Division of UNCTAD. Irene holds a PhD in Law from the World Trade Institute, University of Bern. Her main research focus is on trade regulation and natural resource governance. She has published research on a wide range of trade policy issues in commodities.

Joschka is a postdoctoral researcher with the Development Economics group at ETH Zurich. He completed his PhD in political and administrative science at the Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Konstanz. Among Joschka´s main research interests are illicit economies, artisanal and small-scale mining, extractive industries in developing countries.
